  I miss my family so much. I thought I was over it but I have breakdowns every few months thinking about my family

  as most of you know i have been shunned by my family for 2 years because of a photo posted on facebook of me kissing another girl at a party.

  the matter was not dealt with fairly but it is over now and i am 100% certain that jdub org is a cult.

  but i miss my family so much.

  My in-laws are shunning my husband, our two children and their great grandson-- shunning three generations deep. They would be shunning me if they knew I was out. Are you certain you want to risk exposing your future children to that? Remember, too, that all visitation would have to be supervised to protect your children against recruitment efforts. There are ex-JWs who are shunned by their own children.

  I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah

  listening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.

  every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.

  it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

  For me it's about loaded language, an identifying mark of a cult. I have a visceral response to the word striving. My therapist used it in a positive way. I still connect it to the concept that 'everything is vanity and striving after the wind'. I explained it to him and asked him not to use the word anymore. I still have a lot of triggers even four plus years out.

  Simple, basic manners would be a good start

  the witnesses are really challenged socially.

  in their own little world, they seem oblivious to the niceties of saying thank you or that they are sorry for some minor wrong.

  these things help life go more smoothly in the real world, like a social lubricant.. i'm simply appalled at the fact that an elder's son, who was married more than a year ago, has never sent out thank you notes for all of the gifts that the congregation gave him for his wedding.

  Many think leaving a tract is an appropriate tip, seldom a thank you card for a wedding or shower gift, and don't get me started on RSVPs. I can't tell you how many "get-togethers" I hosted where I had way to much food, because of a total lack of regard for making a commitment and keeping it. I would get a vague maybe or a verbal yes in passing at the hall or in service (even though I requested an RSVP by phone), and then way too many were no shows and made lame excuses. Sometimes they had the nerve to basically say they got a better offer. As a teen my daughter was particularly hurt by this rude behavior. Literally never a thank you other than on the way out the door, and they weren't shy about gathering up leftovers, and never thought of bringing a small gift for a host either! Grrrr!

  we are madly in love with each other and she is in the process of being divorced.

  let me make one thing clear i'm not the reason for the divorce.

  she attempted to reconcile with him but to no avail.

  It is true, she will be disciplined, likely disfellowshipped and shunned by all including family members. I had a JW friend in the same boat. The elders insisted she break up with him on the telephone in their presence immediately. She refused, so they disfellowshipped her. The shunning even held through the tragic sudden death of her JW son. No one spoke to her at her son's funeral. That's how sick this cult's control can be.

  A little ray of hope.

  for all those who have recently escaped this evil cult i just want to send a message of hope.. i have just had my landlord around.

  one of the first things the landlord said to me.

  "in just a year i see such a big positive difference in you" .

  I went to my cardiologist for my yearly checkup about a year after I left the organization. My doctor nearly left the room, because he didn't recognize me at all. I told him the basic story. He said I seemed so much more relaxed and happier. He said that he has seen the same level of tension in Orthodox Jewish communities. A year later my test results were even better. He told me to keep doing what I'm doing-- sailing, tai chi/qigong and meditation.

  Hubby has been doing research on the internet!!!!

  my husband was recently subjected to an intervention by his parents.

  i am apparently a danger to his spirituality.

  after i stopped attending meetings and went apostate hubby decided to resign as a ms to spend more time with me.

  Fantastic news! My husband left the organization long before I did. I didn’t tell him I was thinking of leaving, because I wanted it to be my decision, and he is just too damned opinionated. It took me six weeks away from the meetings-- no research, just time to think. That is key. Your husband instinctively knows what he needs. Listen to him.

  A few months after I physically left, I did my research. All it took for me was about two weeks with www.jwfacts.com, Crisis of Conscience and The God Delusion, and I was mentally out. Funny thing was hubby was still mentally in after 30 years physically out! It was time for him to learn TTAT! Beware, this will change the dynamics of your marriage, hopefully for the good.

  As a Matter of Conscience, I Am Resigning from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses

  after listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.

  as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.

  i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.

  At this point, I honestly don't think they announced anything. I didn't really fade. I simply walked away over four years ago and have had nothing other than brief, casual contact with the locals when I am out and about. I think the elders decided to let sleeping dogs lie.

  Yesterday, a 30-year JW 'friend' called me to catch up. She is a total gossip. If any rank and file member knew, it would be her. We made plans to cook some organic, healing foods together. She just got back from a stay at the Kushi Institute in New York City. She vacillates between exploring her interests and talents and pioneering-- major cognitive dissonance there.

  There is one particular congregation member that I see fairly frequently. She will be the litmus test as she is in one of the congregations I sent the letters to. I will keep you all posted.

  OF DOGS AND BITES AND BIKES AND THINGS

  the thought suddenly struck me plain and obvious: "these dogs won't stop until i'm good and bloody.".

  there were two of them; a mixed breed of boxer and pit bull; clean, white--collared, tagged and--for some inexplicable reason, ferociously intent on tearing me to shreds!.

  ah, but i'm getting ahead of myself.

  So glad you are all OK! My dog was bitten, shaken three times and thrown on her back by a larger dog this spring. It was a yellow lab, and he was going for her stomach when the owner called him off. My dog was on our property and on a lead. This owner allowed his two dogs to roam free. I reported the incident to the police.

  My husband and I did a lot of bicycling years ago. We always carried air horns like the ones used on boats for safety. Wait until the dog gets fairly close. One blast will do. It stops even large angry dogs in their tracks. I've started carrying an air horn again. No need for a gun.
